By the way

As a follow up to my post earlier today, I have one question:

Go to the "Ask the experts archive" on the FairTax site . Is it just me, or do they sound like they were written by the site authors and not legitimate questioners? Who would write "What about the gaming industry" as a question? (Except perhaps a gaming industry lobbyist.)

I have a feeling, from the way they highlight what the authors expect to be either strong points, or easily dismissed weaknesses, that they are fabricated questions. It is also suspicious that the questions themselves pretty much precisely fill the page on more common screen resolutions.

Maybe I am wrong. Maybe once they answer my question it will appear on the page as well. And, if that happens, I will retract my criticism. Then again, I haven't seen a new question join the archive since I started watching. So either no one is sending in questions, or they aren't posting them. (Too hard to answer perhaps?)

Until then, however, I will maintain my belief that either the questions are written by the site developers, or they are just cherry picked questions selected because they are the ones where the answers make the FairTax sound good. In either case, I am not impressed.

UPDATE 12/28/2007

It has been quite some time since I wrote the above and neither the front page nor the "archives" (which are the same as the front page) have changed. Either no one is submitting questions, no one is updating the site, or I was right and the "Ask An Expert" page is fictitious.
