Damned if you do...

Best of the Web covered this already, but I feel I have to mention it as well for those who missed it.

Israeli researchers have decided that the IDF is guilty of NOT RAPING Palestinians. Yes, that's right, they are oppressing the Arabs (called "Palestinians" for some reason*) by refraining from rape.

I really have nothing to add. Just read the article and the Best of The Web comments (last item on the page).

------------------------------------------------------------

* Until 1948 the residents of Palestine were called "Arabs" by most. The whole idea of an ethnic group called "Palestinians" really didn't exist until circa 1967 and the birth of several "Palestinian" terrorist groups (Some precede the 1960's, but none I can find predate 1948). Historically, the Moslem residents of this region came from the Arabian peninsula and displaced the Syria and Greek Christians and Jews residing there in the 8th century. They are in no way the "original" inhabitants as many Israel-bashers claim.

Also, note that the fellow most famous as the leader of the "Palestinian" Liberation Organization is, by ethnicity, an Arab from Egypt, not even from Palestine. Kind of strange, huh?

UPDATE 12/29/2007

Just to clarify a statement in the note above:

Yes, Yasr Arafat's father lived in Gaza, but that does not make him a "Palestinian". His grandfather was from Egypt, his father lived for a time in Gaza, and Arafat was from Egypt. So, to call Arafat a "Palestinian" is kind of like calling a Saudi Arabian a Swede because his father was the ambassador to Sweden. (Not that there really is such a thing as a "Palestinian", but even using the loosest definition of that term, Arafat does not fit it.)

In truth Arafat was agent of the Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood, sent to Israel to stir up trouble to advance the interests of both the Muslim Brotherhood and the government of Egypt. He was an Egyptian, working for an Egyptian Islamic terrorist group, and was in no way a "Palestinian", even if that term is very loosely applied to all Arabs born anywhere in the territory briefly called "Palestine".
