A few weeks ago, one of my more liberal posters wrote about his "dream outcome", Obama winning both the nomination and the election. So, in the spirit of bipartisanship, I am going to post my own dream election.
The two conventions both end in surprises. The Democrats, seeing that their two nominees have no chance of winning, decide they need a more electable nominee, and compromise on Zell Miller. McCain decides that he really is too divisive, and so steps down in favor of Fred Thompson, who selects Duncan Hunter as his running mate. Miller, not to be outdone, decides to reach across the aisle and selects Tancredo to run with him, to show he is serious about immigration reform.
At that point, I cease to care about the presidential race at all, and spend all my time worrying about congress.
Of course, the chances of anything even vaguely like that happening are a bit remote. Much more likely the electors of the newly reconstituted Holy Roman Empire will name me emperor than I will live to see an election with two candidates I could actually support opposing one another.
But if the left can continue to dream about Obama winning, why can't I have my own dreams? At least mine is a little more plausible than a "President Obama" holding office.
