I am getting a bit tired of token nods by conservatives to the racial identity movement. The latest is
Michael Barone who says he hope we elect a black president. Why? Is he also hoping we eventually elect someone named Buford? We have never had a Buford just like we have never had a black president.
Yes, I am sure it will have great symbolic meaning to people who think in terms of race, but will being black make any difference? Will being a woman make any difference?I thought conservatives were the group that believed our thoughts were not determined by race. So, who cares if a president is black or white, male or female? If race does not determine one's thoughts, then does it matter what race our president is?
I am waiting for a GOOD president. I think that matters a bit more.
