That Explains It

I think Dennis Prager's most recent article may explain the question I asked in my post "Delusional Media".

In my post I asked how ABC anchors and commentators could seriously say that McCain has an uphill battle against Obama. While I postulated they were simply doing so as penance for daring to ask Obama mildly difficult questions, I think Prager may have given me the answer. They have seen polls saying 80% or more are unhappy with the direction of the country and assumed that the country will turn left in the next election.

Which would make sense if Bush had been the reincarnation of Goldwater, but he is far from it. Democrats may think Bush is an extreme reactionary, but, in reality, he has been ruling largely from the center, as did Clinton before him. People always doubt me when I write that, conservatives calling Clinton liberal, and liberals calling Bush conservative, but it just isn't true. Their rhetoric may have been more extreme than their positions, and from time to time they may have thrown a bone to their constituencies, but both governed pretty solidly from the center.

Which makes all those "going the wrong way" polls meaningless. If the country is being ruled from the center, and it is going the wrong way, then it is still anyone's game. No matter what ABC news may think.
