Unless someone gives them preferential treatment, there is no way blacks could qualify for college. In fact, left to their own devices, blacks would be unable to get anything better than menial jobs, and they certainly would never plan for their own retirement. They would never start new businesses or accumulate wealth, and their children would drop out before even finishing high school. They would have large, single parent families, high levels of illiteracy, and their mothers would be so negligent they wouldn't even properly feed their children.
So, do you think I am a terrible racist?
Then why do blacks vote for Democrats? Every one of those statements is the justification for a program supported by Democrats. Admit it or not, those statement express the way that Democrats view black Americans. The view on the left is that blacks are almost subhuman creatures who, but for the intervention of well meaning politicians, would be living in ignorance, poverty and filth. Worse still, the black Democrat politicians feel exactly the same way.
Oh, the Democrats blame it on the "legacy of slavery" or white racism or something else, so as not to offend black voters, but whatever the cause, that first paragraph is an accurate statement of their beliefs. How to explain truancy programs targeted at blacks if not by the belief that blacks don't want to go to school? How to explain preferential college admissions but for the inability of blacks to get in on their own? Contractual set asides presume that blacks cannot conduct business on their own. Nutrition programs aimed at black mothers argue that blacks are especially inept at feeding their children. Family planning for black women suggests that black women have a particular difficulty exercising restraint or using birth control. And on and on.
We don't want to face it, because it is hard to admit that a racist party has been participating in politics and winning offices for so long, but the Democrat party of today isn't much different from the Democrat party of George Wallace. Oh, they now have left wing social explanations for looking down on blacks, where once they had racial biology, and they patronizingly pat blacks on the head and tell them its alright rather than sending them to separate lunch counters, but the racism and condescension is all still there.
I suppose the one difference is that now Democrats condescend to other races as well, including whites, but they still seem to have that especially negative view of black Americans they always had, they just learned that with the right jargon they can still scorn blacks while getting the black vote.
POSTSCRIPT
And please, no talk of Obama. I admit there are black elitists among the elitists of the Democrat party, but it is evident they share the same view of blacks as the white Democrats. Now, I do admit that Democrats tend to be
rather arrogant and look down on everyone,
that is part of liberalism, but I still contend that, in the hierarchy of those they see as inferior, blacks come in near the bottom, if we judge only by the programs the Democrats support.
ADDENDUM
Doubtless there are some black leaders who simply see preferential treatment as a way to get more out of the system, but, sadly, I think such honest corruption is the exception rather than the rule. I really think, even among black Democrats, they see themselves as an elite and the rest of black America as a benighted mass who need these perks or else they would simply collapse into barbarism.
It is quite an insulting view. Yet by and large one blacks continue to perpetuate through their votes for Democrat candidates.
