I have been
saying for a while that McCain
will start drifting to the right, if only
to solidify his base for this election. I also argued that such changes will be lasting if he has any hope of either second term or seeing his eventual VP nominee succeeding him.
Well, it appears he is once again making the right decision, pushing for
allowing off shore drilling for oil.
Admittedly, he is probably doing this only to win votes on the high price of gasoline. Then again, who cares? If he does the right thing for the wrong reasons, he still does the right thing.
After all, if we could vote in a confirmed Communist who ruled as a die hard conservative, wouldn't we be foolish to reject him because of what he "really believes"? I care about results, motives don't matter.
I am just glad to see McCain backing away from his efforts at being a green Republican. He has to realize that he is not going to win the environmentalist vote, and he only upsets conservatives with his posturing. Maybe this is the first step in a new position.
Then again, even if it is the only deviation form his idiotic environmental policy, it still makes him one idea better than Obama.
