Why is it that any problem we face is always blamed on the "overconsumption" and "greed" of the American people? From our current economic problems, to the dot com crash to Carter's malaise, all were because we want too much, we are too greedy and so on.
Why is it that the government can meddle all it wants, take ever increasing chunks of our income, yet WE are to blame?
Is it not possible that maybe, just maybe, our greed is not to blame, and the meddling hand of government is causing the problems we see around us? Perhaps were we left to tend to our own wants, things would run a whole lot more smoothly? And, even if our greed got us into trouble, it would be the single greedy individual who would suffer the consequences of his own actions. Unlike government, whose greed manages to harm us all.
