One for McCain, Again

It was a clumsy interjection, but McCain's mention of Obama's plan to "unilaterally" renegotiate NAFTA and the consequences of doing so was a good point, and one which brings to light the irresponsibility of Obama's rather cavalier attitude about foreign relations.

His energy speech was good, mainly as he concentrated on Obama's weaknesses, his environmental extremism, and his opposition to nuclear. McCain also wisely avoided his environmental ideas. And, Obama honestly sounds a bit like he is simply parroting McCain.

Obama is trying to score points with that silly "lease" criticism again. (I'll link this after the debate.) The thing is, it is a bad argument, but, on the other hand, the general public can't make heads or tails out of it either, so it is a losing one for the anti-oil crowd too, which makes it rather pointless to refute it.

POSTSCRIPT

Obama is biting on another tar baby, by stating for the record what his position is on NAFTA. He is taking a pretty anti-trade stand, sounding off on a number of protectionist silliness, but he is also going on the record. That means his many other past and future stands can now be compared. Not so good for him.

POSTSCRIPT II

And a few points to McCain for pointing out the weasel words that Obama is using.

POSTSCRIPT III

Obama may not do many favors by constantly mentioning labor and environmental protections and human rights protections. It just sounds a bit left wing.

POSTSCRIPT IV

Obama's long, rambling gibberish about alternative energy sources sounded like every stoner who is explaining how hemp will revitalize the economy. They should tape that and just broadcast it over and over again. If anyone thinks Obama has a real energy policy, that should put that thought to rest.
