The Roe v. Wade segment was predictable. Obama thinks there is a constitutional right to privacy, the states should have no say over it, and women, families, and their religious advisors should decide about abortion. McCain is a federalist who thinks Roe was decided wrong and should be a state matter. It is nice to hear a Republican actually openly argue for states rights, but basically there were no surprises here.
It was a bit odd to hear Obama turn this into an argument for equal pay, though McCain knocked it down well by saying it was an trial lawyer attempt to undo the statute of limitations. However, it is strange to hear Obama avoid abortion to move to his silly "equal pay" argument he thinks will endear him to women.
POSTSCRIPT
I am glad to hear McCain finally bring up the BAIPA.
Obama is claiming he did not vote to withhold life saving treatment from an infant. He is saying "well, yes it said that, but there was already a law". It is a bunch of garbage. Even NARAL shied away form his position.
Yet another Obama prevarication. (I'll link after the debate here as well.) [

POSTSCRIPT II
Obama is trying to turn the argument over abortion into an attempt to bring both sides together into a big government plan to stop unwanted pregnancies. Why must the government do that? Once again, he makes McCain's point by bringing the government into everything.
At least McCain is pointing out that Obama is using words deceptively. I wish he had a bit more of Regan in him, as Reagan would have torn Obama to shreds with mockery, but McCain is not doing badly.
