Fighting the Good Fight?

If you want a laugh, I cannot recommend more highly the site of the American Atheists. These humorless gents have a site that just begs gentle mockery.

For example, this "Action Alert". Apparently, Kathy Griffin decided that other people's "imaginary friend" is important enough to be ridiculed. This her comment during an acceptance speech for Jesus to "suck it". Now, my question is, if there is no G-d, if religion doesn't matter, if ti is all just a waste of time, why do these atheists spend so much time thinking about it?

For example, I think feng shui is wrong, has no validity. As a result, I never think about it. Not once. In fact, the first time I thought about it in months was today when I tried to come up with an example of something I don't think about. The same holds true for wicca, faeries, and transactional analysis. I admit, sometimes I do make fun of beliefs I do not share, but I do not obsess the way atheists do. I may mock Scientology or some other strange faith, but only when it comes up a spart of the discussion. I hardly warp every situation to make it relate to these topics, the way atheists do with religion.

And that, really is the most telling thing about atheists. Think about their identity, how they name themselves., They are "against G-d", it is in their name. in other words, for all their talk of having no time for religion, they define themselves by their identity in terms of something they claim to never think about.

In  truth, the few sensible atheists I ahve met really never thought about religion. They did not spend their time mocking faith or worrying about a theocracy. They simply did not believe in G-d and went about their lives. On the other hand, these "atheists" ar enot really athesits, they are simply those who seek confrontation. Like naughty children, they pick the thing that means the most to others and try to tear it down to prove they are "free thinkers".

So, rather than truly being people who have no religious beliefs, these are instead people who seem to have a strong grudge against those who have religious faith. So, they are not so much atheists as they are anti-religion. Which is quite a different thing.
