Best of the Web inadvertently came up with the second best response to those who ask "Don't you hope the president succeeds?" and then try to tar us as unpatriotic. After all, didn't the left tell us all through the Bush administration "dissent is patriotic"? Well, we are just patriotic dissenters.
However, I have another response that is even better. Thanks to the old "we support the troops not their mission" response by the left, I have a different reply. "We support the mission, just not the president."
Oh, and a bit off topic, but in one of the Best of the Web articles, they quote
Bob Shrum as saying:
In the closing weeks of the presidential contest, the GOP harped on the
prediction that President Obama would be tested in his first weeks in
office. Who knew the test would come not from the Taliban in
Afghanistan, but from the Taliban in Washington?
I am surprised Mr. Taranto did not point this out, but it was not Republicans who first mentioned this test, but Vice President Joe Biden. Nor did I ever once hear a Republican mention the idea of a "test". We may have worried about Obama's plans to talk our enemies into loving us, his plans to cut loose Iraq, and his appraently confuse dposition on Israel, but nt one Republican ever used the word "test". Testing was entirely Biden's idea, and as far as I know, he has never been a member of the GOP.
