I know
during the election many of us
drew analogies between
Obama and Carter, but none of us expected him to go so far in
living up to that comparison. Is it just me, or did this recent European tour bring to mind the era of disco, gas shortages and malaise? From ending missile defense systems to nuclear disarmament, from apologizing for the last war (Vietnam then, Iraq now) to promising negotiations with Russia, and, of course, the constant abasement before our "betters" in Europe, not to mention kowtowing to Islamic radicals, I could swear that Obama was channelling the spirit of the man from Plains, were the latter not still alive. Still, it is the
most eerie impression of Carter I have ever seen. Except that the press would never gush that much over Rosalyn, nor even think of calling her the new Jackie O. Bit other than that, I could have sworn we were back in 1978 once more.
And once the Fed
starts printing the bills to cover Obama's spending, and
regulators start discouraging growth, we'll get Carter style "stagflation" too! If only George Lucas would release a good
Star Wars movie, I would be convinced I was reliving my youth once again.
