I know most people realize Jews are not some evil fifth column, but every time I convince myself of the fact that most people are sane, I run into yet another crazed antisemitic column, arguing that a "sinister 2%" is plotting to institute socialism. And, of course, it follows the usual pattern, arguing that Jews somehow corrupted blacks, turning them against freedom. And as proof, of course, the usual list of Jewish liberals. (Amusingly, those who hate "
neo-cons" manage to list just as many Jews from the Bush administration, many, like Wolfowitz, hated by liberals.)
Well, using the same style of "proof", I am going to show another conspiracy. Let us look at it, a small minority, many forced to flee their homeland, who were despised in the countries in which they settled, managed to rise to prominence, ruling several cities outright through "machine" politics, and holding a disproportionate number of political offices.And, by and large, these men have all been left-leaning members of the Democrat party. Look at the names: Kennedy, oh so many Kennedys, Kerry, O'Niell, even Obama stated he has Irish ancestry.
Why? Because he knows of the massive conspiracy by the Irish to impose socialism on the US.
Think about it. When was the last time we imposed any negative legislation on Ireland? Why do we do nothing to curb Ireland's "pro-business" tax policy which draws capital away from the US to Ireland? Why do we listen to Bono's foreign policy advice? Clearly because there is an "Irish Lobby" controlling every action of the US.
Of course ti doesn't fit quite as well as Israel does, but that is because I just started coming up with calumnies against the Irish, while the Jew baiters have had centuries. But if I were to also draw on decades of anti-Catholic rhetoric, I am sure I could come up with even more persuasive nonsense.
The point being, yes there are many liberal Jews, mainly because Jews are concentrated in urban areas in the north east and west coast, are affluent, and thus tend to move in liberal circles. The same is true of the Irish, and many Italians. Notice the political affiliation of all three groups. In addition, Jews, like the Irish, Italians, Poles, and others, were traditionally Democrats, due to the nativist policies of the 19th century Republicans, and those alliances are only now starting to erode.
So, yes, there are liberal Jews, but there are liberal Irishmen too. So what? Does it prove a conspiracy? Hardly. But, I suppose, in the minds of those convinced that there is some Jewish conspiracy, I am just another tool of the vast Zionist World Conspiracy, so I doubt I will convince them. Well, time to go to Bohemian Grove, the Bilderbergers are sending some representatives, as are the Gnomes of Zurich... Oops. Forget I said anything. Forget it... or else.

I do make exceptions for "professionals" such as writers on the Huff'n'Puff post, but as this comment relates to an amateur TH blogger, I will not cite the specific writer. (I did make one other exception, for a blogger flooding the list of posts with "all white" pictures of Sean Hannity events, as his bad behavior eventually overcame my reticence. But that was an unusual circumstance.)
