I don't have the time to write it now, but
the WSJ reminded me of a topic that should have been mentioned before now. In their push for "green" cars, many things have been ignored. The fact that electric and hybrids may be more polluting in their manufacture than standard cars are in operation, that the public doesn't want hybrids, and so we will require either intrusive laws (forbidding non-green cars) or massive subsidies, the fact that slow recharging and limited range make travel difficult and irritating, and so on. But one issue often overlooked, though brought up often in the 80's during the early days of absurdly high CAFE standards, is that lighter cars mean mroe highway deaths. I will have to writ eon this in more detail later. (I will also address the other issues, as well, as this whole "green" energy push is a total farce.)
