I think Obama may be
shooting himself in the foot, and, as a consequence, setting up his party for
disappointment in 2010.
I see he is claiming that health care is "such a crisis" we "have no time to wait".
I wrote before that this constant "disaster" drumbeat is
a losing proposition, both because it makes the voters wary of the politician and because it makes the politician seem prone to both hyperbole and panic. Yet it seems Obama has learned nothing from his plummeting popularity numbers and
is reviving his "crisis" script for every initiative from cap and trade to (the currently defunct)
Bailout II: Economic Boogaloo, to
ObamaCare to
a tax crisis. I half expect to hear about
a Zelaya crisis.
I will revisit this shortly to look at it in more detail, but can anyone recall a president (other than Carter) plagued by so many imaginary crises? Supplemented with crises of his own making?
POSTSCRIPT
I do apologize for making a "Breakin' II:Electric Boogaloo" joke, but as it is the first time in almost 2500 posts, I think it is forgivable. (Actually, this will be post number 2488. Only 12 more to 2500. Even though not every one was a gem, I am quite proud of the number
and quality of my posts.)
