I wrote a few days ago about the cash for clunkers plan and its remarkably short sighted and pointless nature in "
Government Efficiency II". Today, I found a
WSJ opinion article saying the same thing. While the article credits the program for more sales than I do, it otherwise repeats the arguments I made, as well as closing on argument I also made in "
Proof Keynes (and Krugman) Are Insane", "
War Stimulates the Economy? Let's Nuke San Francisco!" and "
Technocrats", basically that if subsidies and destroying usable but old goods will make us rich, then let us go on a spree of destruction and subsidies!
Nice to see that some of my ideas are being echoed in the media. Maybe in time we will finally dig ourselves out of the economic hole we have dug ourselves.
