I have for quite some time been receiving a trickle of hits from those searching the quote "You know who deserves a posthumous Medal of Honor? James Earl Ray. We miss you, James. Godspeed." (As well as those
reading this article on Freerepublic.) I seem to have been
one of the earliest sites to have stumbled across this liberal slander and tracked it back to it's
very dubious source in
Wikipedia. (Though apparently there is an even earlier dubious source cited in the WSJ article.)
Today,
Best of the Web got around to finally recognizing that a number of absurd quotes have been drifting around on the web, attributed to Limbaugh. Then again, in this case, I will forgo my
obligatory facetious claims of plagiarism and offer some applause. After all the more people who publicize the lack of proof for even one of these quotes, the better.
POSTSCRIPT
For those unfamiliar with this silly series of posts, you can read the previous entry, "
Best of the Web Imitates Me XIX
". Or go back to the first one, "
Best of the Web Imitates Me". It is a rather thin joke upon which to hang a year and a half long running gag, but it is the best I have for now.
