I know I often
joke about Best of the Web imitating me, but
this time their conclusion is almost word for word the central theme of much of my blog:
Richmond describes Reinhardt as not "overly partisan" or "in lock-step"
with Democratic health-care proposals. Yet he might have stumbled onto
something here. The reason they're doing this is because they're
convinced they're smarter than us "plebs."
Of course the reason they can make this statement is that the quote preceding this comment is Reinhardt holding forth about the ill-informed plebs who run democracy.
Now that I think about it, maybe they aren't really stealing my ideas, maybe I am just a bit too far ahead of the curve.

Yes, these are still intended as tongue in cheek. Well, with one exception, I do think my assertion that the authoritarians all think we are idiot proles who need to be told what to do is going to become more and more prominent in arguments about government. As the internet makes public more embarrassing statements by leftist intellectuals, I believe those dubbed mindless proles will come to resent the assumption that they cannot care for themselves, and we will see a gradual revolution against the assumption of citizen incompetence and the need for government protection.
