I am writing this to let regular readers I am on a "semi-vacation". By that I mean that, while I am not completely avoiding writing, I am taking a break from my usual expectation that I will post at least once a day, usually two or three or more times. There will still be posts in the coming days, but for the rest of December, I have decided to give myself a bit of a break and declare myself on vacation, at least to a degree.
You see, I have many things I want to do, and I have let the blog keep me from getting caught up. First, as I have mentioned several times, as a frustrated would be writer, I have fiction writing to do. Specifically, I have four story ideas that need some attention. Two period pieces, one set during the revolutionary period oft he Age of Reason, one during World War II. And then two others, a dark comedy based on conspiracy theories and those who believe them and a semi-horror story in the spirit of Turn of the Screw, though with some autobiographical bits attached.
In addition, I have been avoiding my recreational programming tasks, and I really want to get back to them. I have my long unfinished programming language Po, a subset of forth optimized for minimal memory footprint and fast execution (originally intended to form the basis of a Unix-like operating system and virtual machine environment, though not sure if that is still in the cards), my Molto shell, which allows users to treat separate computers as one large, distributed environment, and Plus, my simplified scripting language for those who don't know much about programming.
And then, of course, my son is home from school at the end of next week, as is my mother, and my wife's schedule is very light, so I think it best if I just take a bit of time to relax. Not to mention that my pain has been quite bad of late, and I am starting some new treatment in the weeks to come with some unpleasant side effects, so I think it best if I take a bit of a breather.
However, this is far from a full vacation. All those "
Upcoming Posts" posts still apply. I do plan to write, just not daily, at least not for days on end. So, check back, I will still be writing, even writing my usual book-length posts. Just with slightly lower frequency.
And come January, unless circumstances change greatly, I will be back to my usual obsessive pace. Perhaps earlier if my obsessiveness won't allow me to take a full three week vacation.
