I have posted several times concerning the nonsensical opinions I have found on IMDB, but I think this one takes the cake. I was looking to see if anyone had written about the Heesters decision in the Germany court, and, while finding nothing about it yet, I came across
this gem:
I appreciate the fact that actors or artists may, in some cases, want to
continue working as a passtime in their old age, most people who do
very demanding jobs though are HAPPY to reach retirement age and spent
time with their hobbies(like acting ?), if like in some cases in the
3rd world and of course in that paradise for workers the united states
people are FORCED to keep on working into their 70's, 80's and God
forbid, 90's I find that no reason for rejoicing whatsoever but a very
sad result of the, now clearly failed, laiissez-faire laissez -passez
free economy ....so I have a mild amusement for actors working into
Methusalem age but let's not put this up as an example of any kind
please!!
So, could someone tell me where this laissez-faire US is located so I can move there? I know there was something rather close prior to 1890, though wiuth still too much banking regulation and lots of state and city legislatures engaged in shakedowns of business. And during the era of Andrew Jackson I heard there was something even closer. But other than those two eras, I can't think of where one might find this laissez-faire US.
What is even more amusing is what makes retirement so difficult is government, not private enterprise. The eroding of savings through inflation and other monetary manipulation, the regulation of the stock market eating into profits, taxes taking away "capital gains", taxes preventing us from saving in the first place, social security taking even more, and then massive government taxes and fees generally slowing the economy, those are what make us poor and keep some of us working, not the free market. Recall in the more free 1950's, home help, such as maids and cleaning help was a more common phenomenon even among the middle class, as was the one income family. We did not change that because of "greed", but out of necessity, to feed the red white and blue leech.
But what do I expect from IMDB. Judging from
the fellow's other posts he is quite a jolly diva, but seems to buy into every dogma of the far left economically and politically, so this post is hardly surprising. Still, it amused me so I thought I would share it.

It is possible I missed one or more, but I think I got all of the important posts. Also note that IMDB is only mentioned in some and is not the primary focus of the entire post, though I tried to avoid including anything where IMDB played too small a role.
