I have been spending some time since ill reading Ron Paul
supporters and
critics on the American Spectator site, and I am realizing why Paul scares me. Now, before Paulbots attack, allow me to say, I own a completely beaten-to-death copy of "The Case for Gold", I endorsed Paul in 1988, despite his strange theory we "lost the Cold War" and Reagan made us less safe, and generally I have given him a fair shake. I even ignored many charges of associating with antisemitic groups, until the evidence got a bit too great to ignore. But what scares me is that the part of Paul's platform I support, fiscal conservatism and the economic libertarianism, is being downplayed in favor of isolationism and, sadly, anti-government paranoia. Just as in 2008, Paul is sounding like Truther, or one of those anti-police libertarians, and certainly sounds much more left than right.
As I said, feeling very ill, ad even these little blurbs are hard to finish, so no more for a while, but I will come back to this once I feel a bit better.
